“There were two farmers who prayed for rain. One farmer prayed and then went back into his house. The other farmer prayed and then went out to the fields and prepared his furrows. Which farmer had more faith?”
Some wonderful friends shared this with us as we had a meal together not long ago. Our friend’s dear wife said to us, “You’ve sold your house and you’re selling your furniture and everything you own. You are preparing your furrows. You just need the rain.” Yes, indeed! We continue to prepare our furrows for the rain that we know will come. We haven’t been kicked out of our duplex yet! (Maybe you remember that the house we are renting is foreclosed and they are giving us 90 days to leave before eviction–which takes us up to July 9.) We are still visiting churches and friends so that we can share the ministry God has put so heavily upon our hearts. A few more pieces of furniture need to be put on Craigslist yet. We are preparing a HUGE garage sale to sell most of the remaining items that will not fit into 24 pieces of luggage. It’s been a L–O–N–G draught but we are confident that the blessings will come down as the prayers go up!
Recently we received some encouraging information from the United States headquarters of Africa Inland Mission, International. They are so determined to get us to Kenya that they have allowed for us to NOT receive retirement in our monthly support–which lowers our target tremendously! With our retirement taken out, we are at 60% for monthly support. With our one time donations (that have accumulated over the past three years) added into the monthly support for a two year term, we are at a grand total of 77%! We are SO CLOSE!! As we pray for the rain, we look back at our lives and see how God has faithfully provided in the past. He is the same God and He will continue to provide for us now.
July 9–exactly one month from today–AIM must have all of our pledged donations in order for us to obtain clearance to leave on August 9. Please pray with us that the storm clouds will gather and that God will soak our furrows with the rain that He will bring our way. We are SO excited to be SO close after SO long.
Faith is not believing that God can — it is knowing that He will!
